Hovering balls – kinetic sculpture
Designer and creative artist Joachim Sauter made a truly inspiring and amazing artwork for the BMW museum. The artwork consists of 714 metal spheres the can move vertically through small steel wires that are controlled by motors. By adjusting the spheres creative artwork is visualized and Joachim Sauter wanted to display the process of form finding. The animation is seven minutes long starting chaotically and then evolving into finished projects. The artwork can be visited at the BMW museum in Munich.

Video HD, fullscreen mode is recommended. See also the site of Joachim Sauter. Video via Vimeo

Really like the blog. I’ve been creating solar panels for small businesses for some time now and carrying out pretty well… Greatful I found this place.

Great blog
If you think the hovering balls in this is interesting then you might want to take a look at this project where people are able to directly interact with hovering balls: http://www.akosta.dk/en/musiccubes/ (there’s also a video of it on the website)
