Digital boarding pass
Designer Mason Bonar has designed a digital boarding pass concept. Instead of walking around with your paper ticket this digital ticket helps you navigating to your gate and provides entertainment on the flight.
Advantages
One major advantage is that services can contact travellers individually to notify them of delays or gate change. Anyone who has ever flown knows that he does not want to miss a gate change or last boarding call. A second advantage is that it helps people navigating through the airport. Especially the large airports are sometimes a true labyrinth. We can imagine you can give orders like ‘collect luggage’ or ‘find nearest toilet’.
Disadvantages
Expensive! Imagine the thousands of people who are traveling every day on an airport and. It is likely that this system is less safe then the existing ticketing system. Every system can be hacked, so that will be a critical issue in the feasibility of this concept.
Operation
Although it is not explicitly stated we suspect that the digital ticket is operated by a touchscreen. From what we can tell from the renders the interface is simple to use. Now on to the pictures!
