Samsung has given a preview of their new MP3 player the ‘S2′. It offers a small storage capacity of 1 GB for playing your music files, and it has a built in FM receiver so you can listen to all your radio stations as well. The model is expected to ship in June this year, prices are unknown however.

It seems Samsung is following other brands by introducing a small, lightweight MP3 player with small storage capacity. A few years ago the MP3 players wanted to stand out from the crowd by massive storage capacities. It went from 2Gigs to 10, 20, and even 80Gigs and that market still exists today of course.

But maybe the ‘early and late majority’ only want a lightweight, easy to use MP3 player? There is no fiddling around with menus, and you don’t have to figure out what all the features are for, especially those you weren’t going to use at all. In that respect the small amount of music numbers is an advantage since is simplifies operating the device.
